Camels, archery and xanax… Oh My!

Moving to Mongolia has been such a magical and strange experience. We moved here 2 weeks ago… and that’s a whole other post that I will get to writing… one day!
We are here… and our jet lag is finally gone. We are living in Ulaanbaatar (UB), the capital city. And trust me… any preconceived ideas you might have had about Mongolia… will be pushed aside when you see the city!
It’s big, it’s filled with cars (going every which way) and has a ton of restaurants and shopping! I am going to post a lot more about Mongolia.. and I will also be adding a ton of photos to the Mongolia page.
Our first trip out of the city was to the Chinggis Khan Statue Complex- about an hour and a half out of the city. It’s a GIANT statue of… you guessed it.. Chinggis Khan. 🙂
Here’s some nerd talk about the complex…
1. The statue is 131 feet tall and is of Chinggis Khan on a horse.
2. You can walk up the butt of the horse and travel to the head and have an awesome view! No joke… this made my girls and I giggle a thousand times that day.

3. There are 36 columns around the complex… representing 36 of the Khan clan!

After exploring the complex… we walked down the hill and decided to ride some camels, meet and eagle and shoot some arrows.

The taxi ride to and from… well.. that’s another post. All I can say is… I’m usually the nervous passenger. This time, Tim was! All I can say is .. thank goodness for Xanax and Dramamine!
